After the 1st match of the Cricket All-Stars at New York, which was won by Warne’s Warriors, Blasters were all set to make the series even in the 2nd match.
Minute Maid Park, Houston, TX was ready to host the 2nd match of the series. The ground was filled with 26,000 to 28,000 die hard cricket fans.
Sachin won the toss and elected to bowl first. From the beginning of the innings Warriors started to take advantage of every Blasters’ bowler and started scoring. They made a massive total score of 262-5 with 21 sixes and 22 fours. Most notable are Kumar Sangakkara-70(30), Jacques Kallis-45(23) and Ricky Ponting-41(16). The Warriors didn’t spare any of the bowlers.
Sachin’s Blasters were given a target of 263 which was very challenging. But the opening pair gave a bit of hope. Sachin and Sehwag started the innings, it only lasted for few minutes till Sehwag was dismissed by Agarkar when he was 16(8). After this no player gave a good stand and scored more than 30 until Shaun Pollock arrived, who scored 55 off 22 balls. They were only able to score 205-8 at the end of the innings. On the Warriors side Symonds picked up 4 wickets, Saqlain who was the first person to bowl “Doosra”in international cricket shown his classic bowling skills with an economy of 4.00 and taking Tendulkar and Jayawardene’s wickets.
With this Warne’s Warriors won the match by 57 runs and took the lead 2-0 at the Cricket All-Stars T20 series.
The Houston crowd was incredible. No matter who won, the crowd cheered for every player.
